32,000 feet over Alabama
We’re off again, traveling the planet on our annual mission
of cultural enlightenment. This time
it’s the museums, art galleries, and libraries (media centers to you
modernists) of Maui and Kauai. We’ll also be
seeking out the symphonies, the theaters, the opera houses, and other centers of learning,
perhaps pausing for a bit of haute cuisine along the way.
First, we seekers of thought on a higher plane must spend
many hours on a commercial plane. First,
Jacksonville-Atlanta. Then, across the
country to L.A. After a four-hour
layover there, on to Kauai, where we land around 1:30 a.m. Georgia time. Finally, a long drive to the north coast
where we will begin our adventure in Princeville after a 21-hour transit.
Time to begin boning up on the cultural high spots of Hawaii.
